Principal's Message: 6 November 2026

Dear families,

It’s been a short but exciting week at St Mary’s.

Yesterday, we officially welcomed Fr Samuel to our school community as he celebrated his first school Mass with us.

It was wonderful to see all the children so engaged during his homily, answering his questions and thinking deeply about the messages within the Gospel. Fr Samuel is looking forward to visiting classrooms in the coming weeks, where the children will have the opportunity to ask him whatever they like. It should be interesting!

Our Preps commenced swimming lessons yesterday. Thank you to the parent volunteers who are helping out. Our Prep teachers are incredibly grateful for the extra support.

Last week, we welcomed our 2027 Prep cohort with our first Good Start session. They also had the chance to come along yesterday, when they were treated to a song and story time with Mrs Sims. It’s hard to tell who had more fun, Mrs Sims or our new Preps. Let’s call it even.

We had an exciting moment last week when Mr Hein had the pleasure of unveiling our first two slimees for our current fundraiser. It’s still not too late to contribute to the fun run before the event on Friday 20 November. Who knows who will be slimed if we reach our next milestone? Last week, we sent out a notice requesting assistance on the day. It’s a very easy event to help with. Adults are stationed around the oval, either wetting the children with a super soaker or throwing coloured powder at them as they run laps of the oval. If you are available to come along, please consider helping out.

Whilst on the topic of extra support, we have also sent out another reminder calling for parent helpers for our School Sports Day on Tuesday 24 November. This is a big day for our students, with many stations that require adult assistance. It’s a fantastic, albeit exhausting, day for the kids and any support you can provide will make all the difference to the smooth running of the day. Please respond via the nForma notice indicating your availability.

Have a wonderful weekend,
