Physical Education


What our classes are learning in Physical Education this term...

 

Prep

Students will be involved in the Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) aimed to assist the development of gross motor skills and therefore assist with the development of fine motor skills. Fundamental movement and motor skills also will be developed through participation in individual and small group activities.  They will continue to practice following instructions, respond to the whistle and cooperate with others. Students will also participate in the Jump Rope for Heart Program - followed by a Whole School Jump Off at the end of the Term.

 

Year 1/2

Students will be developing their fundamental motor skills with a focus on throwing and catching through participation in individual, small and whole group activities. Students will focus on the importance of teamwork and developing skills required to participate and follow rules in game situations. Students will participate in a gymnastics unit and will also participate in the Jump Rope for Heart Program - followed by a Whole School Jump Off at the end of the Term.

 

Year 3/4

Students will continue to develop their fundamental motor skills and games sense through participation in individual, small and whole group activities. They will develop skills and knowledge of the following Net & Wall sports; Badminton and Table Tennis. They will continue to develop their team building and initiative skills through a variety of activities. Students will have the opportunity to try out for the schools cross country team. Students will also participate in the Jump Rope for Heart Program - followed by a Whole School Jump Off at the end of the Term.

 

Year 4/5 and Year 5/6

Students will use their fundamental motor skills through a games sense approach by participating in individual, small and whole group activities. They will develop skills and knowledge of the following Net & Wall sports; Badminton and Table Tennis. Students will have the opportunity to try out for the schools cross country team. Students will also participate in the Jump Rope for Heart Program - followed by a Whole School Jump Off at the end of the Term and the Year 5s and Year 6s will also be involved in the Inter School Winter Sports Program.
