Cadbury Fundraising

This week, we will be distributing one Cadbury Fundraising box per family, in the hope that you will help your child(ren) sell them to family, friends and people within our local community.
Important information to note:
  • The eldest student will receive the box on behalf of their family.
  • Chocolates are to be sold at $1 per unit, totaling $60 for the box.
  • Money and/or unsold chocolates are to be returned to the office by no later than October 17th. The office will be ticking family names off on their return.
  • If families would like more chocolates to sell, please let the office know and this can be arranged.
  • We are excited to announce that we will be using the money from this fundraiser to go towards our ninja warrior playground, that is in its planning phases.
Thanks for your ongoing support,

Your parent and friends representatives.

Footy Fun Day

Wear your Favourite Footy Team colours to school on Wednesday 17th September.

Wearing 'Footy Colours' does not mean that students must wear AFL approved gear.  eg. Bulldogs supporters could come along in red, white and blue clothes.  Non football supporters can wear casual clothes.

We would appreciate it if students who wear their footy colours bring a gold coin donation.

There will be face painting before school on the netball court for 50 cents per child. While our face paints are child friendly, if your child has sensitive skin we recommend that they don't have their face painted.

There will be an assembly in the hall for all students.  Unfortunately, we won't have room for family members at this assembly.  We are sure the kids will tell you all about it though, as it's always lots of fun with club song singing and trivia quizzes.

Children who did not order a lunch from Salt n Pepa should bring their lunch as usual.  Students will need their brain food and snack.

Regards

Ask R U OK?

Ask R U OK? Any Day because life happens every day.

Thursday 11 September is R U OK?Day but we know that whether it’s a friend, family member, partner, or colleague , the people around us go through life’s ups and downs every day.

That’s why we want everyone to feel confident to check in with the people they care about and Ask R U OK? Any Day.

Research has found that those who are regularly asked, 'are you OK?' report increased feelings of wellbeing, and that a third of Australians say they've been asking others more often over the past year. That means many of us are already showing up for others in meaningful ways, but when it comes to conversations about how we’re really going, some people are less confident than others.

It’s natural to feel a little hesitant, but the good news is that the RU OK? day founders have discovered nine in ten Australians report feeling grateful, supported and cared for when someone genuinely asks them if they're OK - and that’s a good reason to give it a go. You might even be having these conversations already without realising.

If you need tips to build your confidence, there are plenty of free resources, like this article titled HOW TO ASK 'Are you OK?', to help you feel more confident to check in with someone you care about.

Hats On!!!

St Marys is a SUN SMART SCHOOL. As such students and staff are required to wear sun smart hats from 1st September to the end of April regardless of whether the sun is out or not. This measure is part of our commitment to ensure the safety and well-being of our students during outdoor activities. Check out the widget at the bottom of our website which will guide you in the hours to especially check UV.

Please make sure your child has their school sun smart hat (legionnaire or wide brim) each day, at least until the end of April.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Literacy: Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge Wrap-Up

The Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge has officially concluded.

A big thank you to all the students who participated and embraced the joy of reading! We’re especially proud of those who went above and beyond, significantly exceeding the book target - an outstanding achievement.

We look forward to receiving our official certificates, which will be issued by Premier Jacinta Allan in the coming weeks. Once they arrive, we’ll celebrate this fantastic effort together at our school assembly.

Well done to everyone involved!
