Term 4 Week 5

Deputy Principals Message: 7th November 2025

St Mary’s students enjoyed a well-earned mid-term break with the Melbourne Cup providing the perfect opportunity to recharge before a busy second half of Term 4.

This week our Year 1/2 students had a wonderful time at Scienceworks, exploring Toys and Motion as part of their inquiry unit. Our Prep students also took to the water for their first swimming lesson, showing great courage and enthusiasm — they’re ready to dive back in next Thursday and Friday!

We were also fortunate to enjoy our School Sports Day. A big congratulations to all students for their fantastic participation and sportsmanship, and a special thank you to Mr Hertz for the many hours he spent planning and preparing to make the day such a success.

On Thursday, staff celebrated World Teachers’ Day with a special morning tea. It was a lovely opportunity to show our appreciation for the dedication and care our teachers give to the St Mary’s community every day.

Coming Up Next Week

  • Slime Bucket Challenge!
On Tuesday and Wednesday, the first two staff members nominated for the freezing cold slime buckets will face their fate! So far, students have voted for Mrs Masseni and Mr Hein Keep an eye on our school website and Instagram for photos and videos.

  • Senior Social Justice Stalls
On Thursday and Friday, our senior students will host their social justice stalls. It’s always wonderful to see their creativity and hard work come together for a good cause, with all funds raised going to charity.

  • Final Walk & Ride to School Day
Wednesday will be our final Walk & Ride to School Day for the year — a perfect way to stay active and start the morning positively.

Reminders

  • School gates open at 8:30am. Students may play on the junior playground before school if they are supervised by a parent or guardian.

  • School finishes at 3:15pm, and gates close by 3:30pm. Please ensure your child is collected by this time, or alternatively, arrangements can be made for After School Care.

Have a great week

Mr Hein

Harrison Hurdling into the State Finals!

We are incredibly proud of Harrison for his outstanding performance at the State Championships on Thursday.

He advanced through to the final of the 80m hurdles and finished an impressive 6th overall in the state! Despite feeling a few nerves, Harrison showed remarkable composure, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the event.

He wore his school uniform with pride, supported his peers, and demonstrated an excellent attitude both on and off the track. Competing at this level was an incredible achievement and a valuable experience that will no doubt inspire him in future competitions.

We look forward to seeing where his hard work and talent take him next … who knows, maybe even the Brisbane Olympics in 2032!

Operoo and nForma

Recently, the school has been advised by Operoo, that they will not be operating in Australia as of January 2026.

Therefore as a school we will be preparing to transition away from the Operoo platform during term 4 2025, so that we are ready to start the school year in 2026 on the nForma platform.

There are new features in the nForma platform that allow us to move to one platform for many functions including excursion permissions, student medical details and first aid, currently on Operoo, as well as Reporting and attendance, which we currently utilise.

The first step for our school is to support you to ensure you have access to the nForma Parent Portal, then check the medical section and update as required, which we are told, will link to the first aid and permission section for excursion and camp.

We have sent an email from the nForma package to all parents, so that you are aware of the email account registered with the package via the school office system. In the interim, you can :

1. DOWNLOAD THE APP

Go to App store (Apple) or Play Store (Android) and download the nForma for parents.

2. LOG IN using the username and password you used for accessing student reports in semester 1.

Alternatively, choose ‘forgot password’ using the email address you registered with the office for fee statements, and set a password once the reset email arrives.

3. If you do not receive a reset email or get a message that the email address does not exist in the package, contact Tony Freeman or Kristy Talty, who can check which email address you have registered for the nForma package.

If you have issues with this process, do not hesitate to contact the school to get this process underway.

Tony Freeman

Together

Hats On!!!

St Marys is a SUN SMART SCHOOL. As such students and staff are required to wear sun smart hats from 1st September to the end of April regardless of whether the sun is out or not. This measure is part of our commitment to ensure the safety and well-being of our students during outdoor activities. Check out the widget at the bottom of our website which will guide you in the hours to especially check UV.

Please make sure your child has their school sun smart hat (legionnaire or wide brim) each day, at least until the end of April.

Thank you for your cooperation!
