Action for Happiness: Joyful June

This June, Action for Happiness invites you to boost your wellbeing with their Joyful June calendar — a month of simple daily actions designed to spark joy and positivity.

In a world where we can't always control what happens, we can choose how we respond. The Joyful June calendar encourages us to seek out the good, even in small moments. Whether it’s sharing a laugh, spending time in nature, or doing something kind for a friend or stranger, these joyful actions help us build resilience and deepen our appreciation for life.

Research shows that actively cultivating positive emotions not only boosts our own wellbeing but also strengthens our relationships and communities. Joy doesn’t have to be grand — it can be as simple as a smile, a favourite song, or a moment of gratitude.

Download the calendar for free by clicking this link and share the joy with others. Let’s celebrate the wonder of being alive — one joyful day at a time.

Join Abi for a quick video and activity to help you build your gratitude muscle and achieve a healthy emotional balance.

"Enjoy the little things. One day you may look back and realise they were the big things" - Robert Brault

Casual Dress Day - Monday 30th June

Exciting News – Ninja Playground Equipment Coming to St Mary’s!

St Mary’s Primary School is thrilled to announce the exciting addition of Ninja Playground equipment to our school grounds!

This new initiative will see a variety of equipment introduced over the year, and we’ll be fundraising throughout to help make it possible.

Each class’s Junior School Council representatives were recently shown several equipment options, and after careful consideration, they’ve chosen the vertical wall obstacle as the first item to be installed. This challenging and fun piece of equipment will help build strength, coordination, and confidence in our students.

To support this project, we’re holding a Casual Clothes Day on 30 June. Students are encouraged to come dressed in their favourite casual outfit and bring a gold coin donation to help kickstart the fundraising effort.

We’re excited to see the Ninja Playground take shape and thank our school community for supporting this fun and active addition to our playground.

Reporting of Mathematics 2025

In 2025 all schools are now required to fully implement Victorian Curriculum Mathematics Version 2.0, including assessment and reporting. The structure requires teachers to report against the achievement standard as a whole, providing a single, aggregated score.

Using the learning evidence against the strands taught across the reporting cycle each semester, teachers make an on-balance, holistic judgement with reference to achievement standards that accurately reflects where the student is on the learning continuum for Mathematics Version 2.0.

Previously all 3 Mathematics Strands appeared on the report.  See below

From this reporting period, the Mathematics mark will appear as represented below.

St Mary's will also continue to report against the indicators taught and assessed during each Maths unit throughout the term, under the Strand headings of Number, Algebra, Measurement, Space, Statistics, Probability. These indicators give parents a more fine grained idea of how their student performed across the varying topics in Mathematics.
Your child's teacher will be able to give some detail about this, but if you required more information, let me know and I will address any questions you have about this change.
