Parent Support Group

You may be aware that for years now we have been running a Parent Support Group for parents of our students with autism. This year we have decided to expand to include all parents of our neurodiverse students

Many parents have found this group to be a valuable support as they journey with their child and family, celebrating and navigating the highs and the lows. Meetings are low key. They are an opportunity to meet with other parents and share knowledge and ideas.

We would love for you to participate in our group in 2025 and hope that you benefit from it as others have in the past.

Meetings have generally been in the staff room although we have also met in local cafes and restaurants.

We have set dates for Term 1 as

  • Tuesday 1st April 9 - 10am

  • Tuesday 1st April 2:30 - 3:15 pm

You are welcome to attend all meetings or just one or two.

We are open to suggestions for times of meetings and days of the week. We are also open to suggestions as to the format of the meeting. There may be opportunities to have guest speakers and also use the expertise of the parents within our group.

We'd appreciate it if you could complete this Google Form to enable us to know who will attend our Term 1 meetings and also to set the times and dates for our meetings from Term 2.

Kind regards

Marg Masseni (Mental Health & Wellbeing Leader)

Ash Wednesday

Next week we celebrate Ash Wednesday with mass at 9:15am.

Some classes will use Shrove Tuesday to explore preparing for Lent by pancake making.
On Monday at assembly, our Liturgy / Social Justice Leaders will be giving out Project Compassion boxes to each class. This is our way as a school that we collectively "give" to Caritas to work with communities at home and abroad to end poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity.

Faithfully Yours

2025 NAPLAN Assessment

As we embark on the academic challenges of the upcoming year, our year 3 and 5 students are preparing for the National Assessment Program – (NAPLAN), scheduled for March 12 to March 24. NAPLAN serves as a valuable tool, offering a snapshot of our students' proficiency in literacy and numeracy.

At St. Mary’s, we view NAPLAN not just as a test but as a catalyst for growth and improvement. It serves as a guide to tailor our teaching strategies, ensuring a dynamic and effective learning environment that caters to the unique needs of every student.

During this assessment period, our Year 3 and 5 students will engage in assessments covering Reading, Writing, Language Conventions, and Mathematics. This comprehensive approach aims to provide a holistic understanding of their academic progress.

We look forward to celebrating the upcoming growth and development of our students, in particular the improvements made between 2023 - 2025 by our year 5 students.
