Dear families,
What a lovely way to usher in Christmas with another successful Carols on the Oval event. Once again, the weather put on a perfect performance, but the kids outshone by miles.
It was remiss of me not to acknowledge the hard work that goes into such an event, so I will do so here. A big shout out to our teachers who prepared the children so well. Another big thank you to Mrs Hamilton who returned from leave just in time to draw the whole event together. I also acknowledge with gratitude, the work that Mrs Hamilton has put into this event for the last 10 years, as this is also her last Carols with us.
Our angelic choir will be singing at Carols in the Park this Sunday evening. We hope you can come along and celebrate. Our students were (unbiasedly) the best singers at last year’s event. I’m looking forward to seeing them perform again.
Congratulations to the following families who won a prize in our Christmas Raffle.
First prize (School Family Fee): Azzopardi family
Second Prize (Large screen TV): D’Alessandri family
Third Prize (Altona Sports Club voucher): Brooks family
As we head into our final full week of school, we recognise that children (and let’s face it, we) are all getting very tired and somewhat anxious about the changes that a new year will bring.
The best we can do for our children is present a positive outlook on the changes that are coming, especially as we head into Step Up Day next Thursday. However anxious we may be for our children, encourage them to talk about the great things they have achieved this year, the things they will have to look forward to in their new year level and acknowledge that it’s completely normal and understandable to be a little uncertain about what’s to come.

We congratulate Isaiah in Prep who became a big brother to baby Eden last Tuesday.
Congratulations Mr & Mrs Krstevski (formerly known as Miss B), who last week had an unforgettable time at their big Macedonian wedding, filled with rich traditions and hours of dancing. We wish them all the best for their next chapter as husband and wife!
As we dive deeper into the silly season, remember to look after yourselves and each other.
Sending you hope and peace as we head into the 2nd week of Advent.
CAROLS IN THE PARK
This Sunday, December 8th, our very own St. Mary’s Choir will be performing as part of Carols In The Park for the Altona Council of Churches.
The choir has been rehearsing to ensure their performance is fabulous. They have even learned a song in Auslan to perform too!
When: Sunday, December 8
Time: begins at 6pm
Where: Logan Reserve, Pier St, Altona
Come along to this wonderful event to support our choir and to get into the spirit of Christmas!
We know that the topic of Homework is a most polarising one, so whichever decisions we make around what homework looks like for our students, will not please all stakeholders.
Have your say here before the end of the year.
