Hats On!!!

St Marys is a SUN SMART SCHOOL and has been for 29 years.  As such students and staff are required to wear sun smart hats from 1st September to the end of April regardless of whether the sun is out or not.
This measure is part of our commitment to ensure the safety and well-being of our students during outdoor activities. Check out the widget at the bottom of our website which will guide you in the hours to especially check UV.

Please make sure your child has their school sun smart hat (legionnaire or wide brim) each day, at least until the end of April.

Thank you for your cooperation!

MACSSIS - School Improvement Surveys

Last chance to complete the MACSSIS Survey as it closes today.

Each year, St Mary's Primary School seeks feedback from our students, families, and staff to understand how our learning community is performing. This feedback is crucial for our progress and is supported by research and best practices.

In 2024, we will use the MACSSIS (Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools – School Improvement Surveys) to collect this feedback. Developed specifically for Catholic schools in Melbourne, MACSSIS is managed through a secure online platform by ORIMA Research Pty Ltd.

Students in Years 4 - 6 will complete the surveys during supervised sessions, while families and staff can access theirs via a secure link and password over a three-week period beginning September 2nd- September 20th 2024.

Participation is voluntary however please remember that the feedback we receive will help guide our efforts to enhance our school.

Links and PINS fpr the survey will have been emailed out to families. If you did not receive yours, please email Sonia to have this re-sent. Please note that we have sent one survey per family.

If you have questions, please contact the school for more information.

Regards
Sonia

RESPECT COMPETITION!

The Australian Government is running a RESPECT Competition.
They want students across Australia in years 5-6 to show us what respect looks like in your world. As parents, carers and family members, we want the best for our children. As teachers, coaches, employers and role models, we can have a positive influence on young people and set the standard for what is and isn’t acceptable, right from the start.

It is so important we equip ourselves with the right knowledge and tools before we approach the issue of respect with the young people in our lives.

The winner will have their storyboard turned into a 30 second animation by a professional animator and will receive a $500 gift card for them and one for their school.

If your child would like to enter this competition please click on the below link or ask Mrs Murdoch for a printed form.

Footy Fun Day

Wear your Favourite Footy Team colours to school on Wednesday 4th September.

Wearing 'Footy Colours' does not mean that students must wear AFL approved gear.  eg. Bulldogs supporters could come along in red, white and blue clothes.  Non football supporters can wear casual clothes.

We would appreciate it if students who wear their footy colours bring a gold coin donation.

There will be face painting before school on the netball court for 50 cents per child or $1 per family. While our face paints are child friendly, if your child has sensitive skin we recommend that they don't have their face painted.

All money collected will go to a cause decided on by the JSC.

There will be an assembly in the hall for all students.  Unfortunately, we won't have room for family members at this assembly.  We are sure the kids will tell you all about it though, as it's always lots of fun with club song singing and trivia quizzes.

Representatives from the Western Bulldogs and students from MSJ will run activities for our students throughout the day and classes will engage in footy activities in their classrooms.

Children who did not order a lunch from Salt n Pepa should bring their lunch as usual.  Students will need their brain food and snack.
