Dear families,
It’s been great to be back at school among the students once again. I’ve had so many students approach me this week and ask how I am and tell me they missed me. It speaks volumes of the kind of community-minded citizens we are working together to nurture.
Uniform update
Marg and I met with Karen from Noone’s this week to finalise uniform options. We are very excited! Karen and her team will produce some samples based on our discussions, ensuring that all the pieces we’ve earmarked can work together.
As mentioned in early news articles, we are moving to a capsule-style wardrobe, moving away from strict winter and summer items. This means that students (and parents) can choose what to wear according to the weather and whatever preference one feels like on a particular day. Apart from the sports uniform pieces which will only be worn on sports days, students can choose to wear the summer tunic or winter pinafore on any day or shorts or long pants, regardless of the season. This is why it is important that the pieces we decide on all work together and alongside each other.
The uniform shop will continue to sell heavily discounted items until sold out, or until Noone's begins selling our new uniform. We will have a 2-year rollout, after which it is expected that all students will be in the new uniform.
School Logo
Thank you for your input and feedback. Our new logo will start appearing across all platforms in the coming weeks. It will also be lovely to see it displayed on our new uniforms.
P&F
Our information night will take place next Wednesday 27th July. Dinner and child minding will be provided. Please let us know if you’ll be attending via the Operoo note. If you can’t access it for any reason, please let me know directly, before Monday so that catering can be arranged.
We are looking forward to welcoming many new members. Please take a moment to look over our Myths Busted that addresses many FAQs about joining the P&F.
Closure Day
MACS has allowed schools to take up an extra student-free day this term to compensate for staff shortages that have meant many teachers in schools across Melbourne have missed allocated planning time.
Friday 12 August will be a student-free day. Please note this in your diaries/calendars.
Sacraments
We finally commence our First Eucharist program this weekend at Saturday’s 9:15 Parish Mass. We have not celebrated this Sacrament since 2019.
You are all welcome to come along and support our students. We offer our prayers for them as they continue their initiation into our Catholic faith.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
Sonia
With most kids back at school, the eSafety Commissioner is urging parents to look out for signs of cyberbullying.
Reports of cyberbullying to eSafety are up 80% this year compared with the first six months of 2021.
Of particular concern are social media challenges being shared by young people. While these online challenges can be fun, they can also be used to humiliate and shame others.
If you notice a young person in your care becoming anxious, withdrawn, secretive or not wanting to be around their friends, they may be experiencing online abuse.
We are especially looking for lids in shades of the colours of our house teams nows. Please place them in the boxes outside the staffroom. Esure they are washed and clean before your drop them in.
Lids that are collected will be used in a special art project.
Thank you
