Term 2 Week 4 ~ Extra news

Principal's Message 14th May 2021

Dear families,

This week I commenced our Prep enrolment interviews for new families. It was wonderful to hear that so many of our prospective parents have come to St Mary’s after hearing such great things about our school in the wider community.

Interviews with existing families who have a child commencing Prep in 2022 will take place early next term.

I am currently considering options for outsourcing our Uniform Shop. I am so grateful for the parents who have run the Uniform Shop onsite for many years, most recently, Patrice and Katrina. As you can understand, family life is getting more and more busy and complex and it will be increasingly more difficult to find parents who can devote the time required to run the shop onsite. I would be interested to hear from any parents who have experience or knowledge of any uniform providers that we may be able to consider. If you can provide any information around suppliers or suggestions, please do so
here.  Once we engage with a particular provider, iI am hoping to obtain input around our existing uniform to determine if it is time to review our uniform items, materials, options etc.

Teachers are currently commencing work on mid-year reports. This year, our reports will look a little different for some of our students as we endeavour to provide reports that better reflect the goals and skills our students are working on. We have placed a great deal of time and effort this year on how we collect, analyse and use student assessment data and are targeting our teaching more than ever before. As a result of this targeting, students may be working on curriculum content that is not at the expected level for their age (This could be content below or above their age-expected level). Therefore, when writing our reports from this semester and beyond, the content of your child’s report may be different to other students in their class, so that the reports are an accurate reflection of what has been taught instead of what is expected to be taught. If you have any questions regarding this change, please feel free to contact me or Matthew Taylor, our Learning and Teaching leader.

This week, I also offer our condolences to Joyce Lalor (tutor teacher) and the Adani family on the loss of Ray, Joyce’s husband, Elizabeth’s father, and Jonathan’s grandfather. Please continue to keep Joyce and the Adani family in your prayers.

Have a great weekend,

Sonia
